Our Team

Maxwell Singh, Development Director

We are pleased to announce that Maxwell Singh has been appointed to be the new Development Director at Classics for All. He will lead all our future campaigns aimed at expanding our fundraising activities and enlarging our donor base. With his expertise and your support, we will increase and maintain the levels of income needed to continue our work.

Maxwell is an accomplished professional with more than 11 years’ experience of successful fundraising and development at a senior level in the commercial, statutory and voluntary sectors. He is the only paid member of our team; everyone else in our team provide their professional skills and time for free.

Maxwell has worked for some of the UK’s leading arts, education, heritage and community development organisations, including Royal Armouries, BBC Children in Need, Arts Council England, the Irish Arts Foundation and London 2012. He has raised significant sums of money for national and regional initiatives and has also served as a Trustee of two theatre companies.

He developed a love for Classics at school in London where he studied Latin and Greek and holds a B.A. (Hons.) in History from the University of Wales and a M.A. in Modern International Studies from the University of Leeds.  After graduating, his work in raising the profile of Leeds led to him being elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2003.

Maxwell is keen to hear from any friends and supporters of Classics who can help us achieve our goal to enable every state educated pupil in the UK to have the opportunity to study Classics.

Please contact Maxwell on 07740 482765, or send an email to maxwell@classicsforall.org.uk at any time.

Volunteers
Lorna Bower, Communications Director

Lorna is an award-winning radio and television journalist who now works in media management. She was employed by the BBC and ITV for more than twenty years as a series and exec producer and director. Her passion for Classics began at grammar school in West London and has continued throughout her working life.

Fleur Macdonald, Press Officer

Fleur Macdonald works as Editor of the website, The Omnivore, which organises the Hatchet Job of the Year Award. She graduated top of her year in French and Latin literature at Oxford in 2008 and is currently learning Ancient Greek as part of her MA at King’s College London. Fleur has taught Latin in places as far off as Tooting and Kuala Lumpur. She’s been asked to write a rap in Latin, translate tattoos and can’t wait to make Latin go viral.

Sarah Rowley, Press Officer

Sarah Rowley is part of the Classics for All Comms team. Sarah works as a media consultant at Fishburn Hedges, working across corporate relations, CSR and brand reputation. She previously cut her teeth in charity with stints at both Comic Relief and Asthma UK, for whom she worked across a range of media campaigns. A keen linguist, Sarah studied Classics and French at Oxford and her love of the subject continues to flourish. So much so that she has set up her own musical Latin Twitter page @LatinRocksON, translating popular song lyrics into Latin – and why not? She is also currently setting up a Youtube page with Fleur Macdonald in order to bring Latin to the (social media) masses.
